Game Programmer - Temporary Contract (6 Months)

Salary : D.O.E - Competitive

Summary/Overview:

We require Programmers who are seeking work on a fixed-term basis, to assist with completion of the game currently being developed by FreeStyleGames.

The role would suit an experienced Programmer who is able to turn his or her hand to a variety of high-level programming tasks.

The ideal candidate is expected to have proven experience in videogame development, be an exceptionally creative problem solver, an excellent communicator, technically flexible and adaptable and always shows high levels of enthusiasm and a talent for creating games.

The Game Programmer role requires excellent technical knowledge of the software development process for developing, and debugging of release quality code. The role requires adaptability, with the candidate being required to work on a variety of game systems including core game structure, Gameplay, AI, HUD and other game-related systems.

This role will report to a Lead Programmer and be expected to deliver game features to the highest standards for FreeStyleGames.


Role Responsibilities

  • Liaising with the Lead Programmer & customers (i.e. other teams) to understand and prioritise technical feature requirements for the game
  • Determining technical solutions to creative design requirements
  • Design and delivery of major game components
  • Maintenance of the overall game framework and structure
  • Prototyping, developing and maintaining game mechanics & control schemes
  • Development and maintenance of UI/menu/HUD code
  • Ensuring TRC compliance for messaging and user feedback as localised content
  • Design, development and maintenance of custom game tools & pipelines
  • Writing robust, high-quality code which conforms to the FSG coding standards
  • Debugging and fixing bugs which are assigned to you. Prioritise high priority bugs, and ensure that these are promptly fixed, and ensure that lower priority bugs are also fixed in an appropriate time-frame


Role Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, Experience)

Attributes:

  • At least 5 years C++ experience in the games industry
  • At least 2 shipped console titles
  • Positive and outgoing personality
  • Good knowledge of modern game engines and graphical techniques
  • Excellent technical architecture and implementation skills
  • Expertise in delivering TRC compliant code
  • An ability to deliver high quality & robust code to a realistic & agreed schedule.
  • Experience on current generation consoles
  • Excellent organisational abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A passion for games

  • Experience of implementing fun, high-quality gameplay code

QA Technician - Temporary Contract (5 Months)

Salary : D.O.E - Competitive

Summary/Overview:

FreeStyleGames are looking for dedicated, passionate Games Testers to join its QA Department on a temporary basis

At FreeStyleGames, we believe that quality is of huge importance to all areas of a game; from bug testing and finding defects/issues, to the overall balancing and quality of a titles game play, audio and music.

We are looking for candidates who have worked on at least 1-2 shipped, boxed titles, or with at least 1 year's QA experience within the games industry on Xbox360, PS3 and/or Wii!

Key Role Responsibilities and Requirements:

  • Find, investigate and report bugs and defects in the game, and enter into a Bug Database.
  • Based from a test-plan, conduct structured testing of all critical areas of the title in development.
  • Liaise with Internal Development Team, providing information on bugs and be able to recreate the issues with the Development Team when required.
  • Effectively liaise with External QA Departments.
  • Effectively liaise with Publisher QA through email, conference calls and video calls
  • Assist with Focus/Consumer Testing.
  • Represent QA/Platform in various meetings about the platform, title or known issues.
  • Assist QA Manager/Leads with the duplication, distribution and security of disc builds for the QA Team on a daily basis.
  • Assist QA Manager & Leads with creation of weekly/daily progress reports for desired platform/title and the creation of weekly build notes, to accompany builds delivered to Activision.
  • Undertake internal training when required.
  • Assist the QA Manager in the day to day running of the department.
  • Undertake other reasonable work requests as needed.

Role Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, Experience):

  • Excellent knowledge of music games and their application.
  • Basic understanding of music technology and production.
  • Able to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience of using Bug Tracking Software preferred.
  • A minimum of 1 year’s experience is preferred or must have worked on at least 1-2 shipped, boxed titles.
  • Should be a methodical, diplomatic, self-starter.
  • Demonstrate a professional attitude and work ethic at all times.
  • Show a thorough approach to problem solving and able to function independently when required.
  • Ability to fit into and work within a dynamic and creative team environment.
  • Needs to be comfortable working to deadlines.
  • An attention to detail is critical, and all tasks must be carried out to the highest standard.
  • A willingness and ability to learn is essential.
