Hi everyone, and welcome to my little corner of the FSG universe. It’s often quite dark here, with lots of wires trailing around the place connecting various things with buttons that light up and do stuff. It’s usually pretty noisy and there are lots of guitars and things kicking about, but I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else!

So what’s it all about? Why are we in this place that’s seemingly powered by coffee?

Well, with the launch of our shiny new website, us FreeStylers thought it’d be cool to share some of the things that go on behind the scenes, show you some of the people that make FSG tick (and in my case: thud, crash and bang!) and share some of the things that we do day-to-day that you might find interesting.

So who am I? I’m Mike McLafferty, officially titled “Audio Producer” at FreeStyleGames, but I tend to just say “Music Guy”. Many people know me as “Metal Myke”: a college name that stuck and was born of a mixture of a typo in someone’s text message, and a hat tip to my love of all things Heavy and/or Metal. I’ve been ‘music-ing’ for over 15 years now and have dabbled in everything from Rock, Pop, Country (the cool slide guitar Country that is, you know the kind with hats and cigars and stuff); to Metal, Jazz, Dubstep and everything in between. Standard story, really: play a few instruments, played in a few bands, wrote a few songs and now I get to do all that for a living!

So in this dark corner of wires, noise and chaos; I’m going to share some of the things I do here at FSG: some tips, tutorials and techniques that I’ve stumbled on throughout my career and anything else that comes up that’s cool and music related!
